- PreK- K
Usually 25 minutes. We read a book, I tell a character education story, we have a discussion on values and characters in the books.
We look briefly at how books are printed using cut sheets from the printer, proofs, and rough drafts from the illustrator. I answer questions, and we read another book if time allows. I like kids and take as much time as I can with them. So allow some extra time between classes.
- First and Second Grades
Usually 30 + minutes. Friendship, Faith and Responsibility is a class on values and character education. The discussion is based on characters in the books. The class participates in finding things we can see and values are things we frequently can not see. They discover that the invisible things in life can be far more important than things we can see. We read some books and do look at the publishing process in depth including cut sheets, printing materials, rough drafts of illustrator and author. I spend as much time as I can with the kids, so allow extra time between classes. They do run over depending on the interests and questions of the class.
- Third and Fourth Grades
Usually 35 to 40 minutes. These classes focus more on creativity, editing, and rewriting. I use new stories that I am working on and the class helps me with them. This can be designed for different grade levels. We read stories and talk about what the meaning behind the story was when I wrote it. Lots of question and answer time.
- Fifth and Sixth Grades
Usually 35 To 40 minutes. We talk a lot about writing. We talk a lot about Publishing a Book. This is a discussion of the creation of a book from the writing, working with an illustrator, creating the book on CD, and the printing process. We use original story lines and how they evolve in the process of editing, original sketches of the artwork, cut sheets and proofs from the printers, mock up copies of books, and the evolution toward a final product. We try to read new and some old stories. Lots of question and answer time.
- Older Grades
Usually 35 To 40 minutes. We talk a lot about writing and publishing. We discuss the creation of books from the writing, working with an illustrator, creating the book on CD, printing the book and distribution. We use original story lines and how they evolve in the process of editing, original sketches of the artwork, cut sheets and proofs from the printers, mock up copies of books, final product and marketing plans. We try to read new and some old stories. Lots of question and answer time.

Dear Mr. Tiller,
"I wanted to write to say thank you for visiting my children’s school, Hendricks Avenue Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida, this past week. My children enjoyed your visit and were thrilled that they were able to purchase your book Rainbow’s Landing and get a personal message penned from you in the book. I appreciate you taking the time to spend the day with all the children at Hendricks and for donating some of the proceeds from the sale of the books back to our wonderful school." Meloni J. Elkins
"Thanks so much for sharing with us on Grandparent's Day. The feedback has been incredibly positive! As a mother, I really appreciate the messages you share through your books. Thanks for being such at positive force for our children." Erica Holloway, PTO President
